Good Times Had By All in New Bern

Monday, October 13th, 2008

2 Great Events occurred this past weekend in New Bern NC Oct. 11th – 12th

1. Home Coming at New Bern High School went off with out a hitch on Friday Night. Home Coming Queen was named and parade was seen, and oh New Bern won.

2. Mumfest came to a close at the tick of 5pm Sunday. It was a sunny day and the crowd was large but not as large as past festivals.

I walked up and down the streets of downtown looking at the arts and crafts, eating kettle corn, visiting a multitude of booths along the way.

New Bernian’s, Ride Your Fanny Off This Weekend

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Join me, Christian Ward and a cast of other crazy bike riders while we race, or should I say

pedal at a moderate pace through the streets of New Bern NC Saturday September 12 and 13th.

Celebrating 20 years, the MS Bike tour makes it’s way back to my own town of New Bern.

This being my second year, I hope to have acquired a tougher fanny to help me go the 30 miles on Saturday

and 30 miles on Sunday. Other more advanced bottoms will ride 75 or even 100 miles per day, but not me

this time, maybe next year!

3 Resons Why to Attend New Bern Area Soccer Tryouts

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

1. Tryouts are a great way to gage your skill level against other players.

2. New Bern needs a lot of good players for each age group to build the teams they need to compete against other areas.

3. Soccer is a great way to learn how to be a part of a team, skills needed for later in life.

Soccer Tryouts start next week May 20th to May 29th. GO to the New Bern Soccer Association Site to check out the details.

New Bern’s Own May Day For Mutts!

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

What is May Day for Mutts you ask, well at least I did. This is a moment that was created by Karen Derrico, author of Unforgettable Mutts:Pure Of Heart Not of Breed.

This moment was created to shin the light on a horrifying statistic that 75% of all dogs that enter shelters today are mixed breeds. There is such a bad stigma placed on dogs because they are not pure bred, that they get bypassed during the adoption process at the shelters.

Therefore a special day was created to educated the public on these magnificent animals. The official Mayday For Mutts is the first Sunday of each May(May 7Th this year). Actually the entire month is dedicated to these special critters but they do have the one official day. In New Bern I think I saw a sign for May 10Th but I did not see a lot of advertisement for the event. Sorry to say I think I missed it this year.

My thoughts are this, who said a dog has to be pure breed to be a good dog. I have owned many dogs in my life and all have been mixed except 1, but still a rescue dog. They are just as or even more loving, loyal, protective and playful as any pure bred out there.

Please go to this site to learn how to adopt one of these great dogs, I did!

New Bern Bear’s Girl Soccer Rolls Over Another Team

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

12 – 0 was the final score at last nights soccer match between The Lady Bear’s and Jack Britt High School.

Although the Bears had a home team advantage, I do not think it would have mattered if they were at home or not due to the skills these young women possess.

After the first 6 goals during the 1st half, it was clear who had the upper hand and who would come out victorious.

That being said, I left after the 1st half was over.

Round 2 begins Thursday at 6:30pm against Broughton.

Broughton is ranked 4Th in the state, New Bern is ranked 9Th.

Funds Raised For Habitat in New Bern by Local Real Estate Company!

Keller Williams New Bern

Parking Lot of Keller Williams of New Bern.

This past Saturday was an exciting day. At 6:30am agents were hustling around our parking lot to get ready all of the goodies to be sold. The flood gates would soon be open at 8am and a mad rush for sure would soon head there way.

At 8am the doors opened, no not real doors but you know what I mean and the hunt was on for a deal.

By the end of the day our fantastic yard sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity raised $1,301.50.

Just another example of Real Estate professionals hard at work for others, not just themselves.

Way to go New Bern KW!!

Foodlion in JAmes City

I was driving past the Foodlion in “James City” as called by all of the locals in New Bern, today and had to stop in to see how all of the changes were going.

There was a lot of mess, very small Isles, and the Deli was closed.

I hope they get done soon, I miss not running my cart into people to get a can of tuna!
