Whether it is renting in New Bern, at the Beaches or in the Mountains, people are looking for rental homes all over the United States.

1.  Interview multiple Agencies: Not every rental agency carries every rental. Go to at least 3 different ones. Read the agreements from cover to cover to make sure you understand what you are liable for.

2. Got Bad Credit: If you have bad credit you may not be able to rent. All responsible rental agencies check your credit. For example, if your home goes into foreclosure, this process surly will ruin you credit. Not only will you be removed from your home, you will not be able to rent.

3. Great interest rates: With the lowest interest rates in history being experienced, you may be able to buy a home for what you can rent one for. Call your local mortgage company to see what you can qualify for.

In order to find that special deal as we say in the real estate business, you must find that great agent.

Finally after record high profit gains by the gas companies and no money in the average Joe’s pocket book, gas prices have dropped.

After reaching nearly $4.50 cents a gallon in New Bern, today we see $2.99 cents a gallon.

What happened besides pure greed that we had to experience record high gas prices over night and continued that trend until this past week?

The annual Chili Festival is occurring today regardless of the pouring rain and 50 degree temperatures. You can find this event in the park in front of the police station in Havelock. Go out and get a great bowl or two of some of the best chili North of the Boarder!

In New Bern today the Bridge Run is taking place in the streets of downtown. The 5k or 10 k run/ walk will be wet but worth getting wet for so go and put your poncho on and join in the fun.

Try and go to these great events even in the rain, because they benefit a variety of charities.

2 Great Events occurred this past weekend in New Bern NC Oct. 11th – 12th

1. Home Coming at New Bern High School went off with out a hitch on Friday Night. Home Coming Queen was named and parade was seen, and oh New Bern won.

2. Mumfest came to a close at the tick of 5pm Sunday. It was a sunny day and the crowd was large but not as large as past festivals.

I walked up and down the streets of downtown looking at the arts and crafts, eating kettle corn, visiting a multitude of booths along the way.

We all know that football can be a dangerous unpredictable sport and so it proved true this past week.

During the Jr. Varsity game a dear friend of our family, received a crushing blow to his right leg and broke it.

After 2 surgeries and 4 hospital days,  he is finally home and in good spirits.

Good news is New Bern did win this game by a landslide.

The next day at New Bern High School,  the varsity took the field and did exact a little pay back on DH Conley.

October is a busy Month for festivals:

1. MumFest : This weekend, October 11th and 12th is one of our annual traditions.  Located amongest the streets of Downtown New Bern, this festival is noted as one not to miss. Crafts, dancers, singers, boat show, wrestling, food and more are the things that can be experienced there. As the Entertainment Chair Person for many years, I know first hand how wonderful this festival really is to attend.
